Why autism? Why Brett?

For the month of April I am choosing to give towards Autism Therapy for my {Handmade with Purpose} contributions.

Here is the breakdown:
-proceeds from every sale of children's artwork
from my shop during April
(including a custom order I have set up)
-proceeds from a few special paintings I am making in honor of Brett (that have been started but not completed)
will go towards a local program,
towards a Language for Learning program for Brett's Resource Room

Does that make sense?
If not, just know I am giving what I can to people (smiles, nods, and winks).

Why Autism? Why Brett?
I could give statistics.
I could tell stories.
I will share these instead:

-Brett is my friend's son. He has Autism. Get to know Brett here & here.
-My husband used to do Autism Therapy with students, and it had an impact on me.
AND, last but not least
-If you are giving to others but not giving to your family, well, it's in vain.

"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."
- Theodore Roosevelt

I hope you will help me support Brett
and so many others

  1. you have no idea how much you inspire me. thank you for doing this.

  2. Very cool. We have an ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) program where I work, they work heavily with Autism and those affected by it.

  3. This is very near and dear to my heart. My sister was diagnosed with autism when she was 2 years old, and thanks to treatments, therapies, and a special diet [and God's goodness] you would never know today. Thanks for doing this Lindsay :]

  4. i love this!!! and i love that quote. yours and theodore's.

  5. you have such a sweet heart, my friend. :) thank you so much for your support ... i cried reading over that checklist again, even though i wrote it. i still get overwhelmed by how much he has accomplished since that scary appointment. i know more good things are to come! :) thanks for helping me bring this program to St.E's!
