SALE SALE SALE

Mr.C is pleased to announce a big, huge sale in my shop!
Please don't laugh at my PS efforts, we were working on short time frame and Mr.C doesn't get excited about sales like he does 360 remotes.

The sale is only for today so take advantage of Cyber Monday!

♥ I heart art ♥ Nan Lawson

I recently revisited Nan Lawson's great shop and blog...which got me thinking...I had to share her great art. We sat down (via email) and I asked Nan some questions:

My first memories of creating are back in kindergarten. When do you remember beginning to "draw little drawings and paint little paintings"?

Nan: I've been drawing as long as I can remember and my earliest memory was at day care when I was really young. There, I would sit and draw horses all day. I remember being particularly proud of how well I drew their legs and faces. I'd love to see those drawings today.

I have recently become a fan of Sunday afternoon picnics in the park. What is your favorite day of the week and why?

Nan: My favorite day has to be Saturday, especially waking up in the morning with the whole work week behind me and the whole weekend ahead. My boyfriend Michael and I usually go get breakfast at our favorite coffee shop and plan the rest of our day. I look forward to it all week.
I am from a small town in South Georgia. Where are you originally from?

Nan: I was born in Virginia, but I grew up in Massachusetts, living in several towns within the Boston area. I went to school in Upstate New York at Syracuse University where I studied Film. Upon graduating Michael and I moved out to Los Angeles where we currently live in a hip, funky, and artistic area known as Silverlake.
What is your favorite creation or photograph you have taken (I noticed your lovely pictures)? And what makes it special to you?

Nan: My favorite creation... so hard to choose! I guess I can narrow it down to a couple. My illustration "Autumn Boy" is one of my favorites mostly because I really cemented my style of drawing characters with him. I also love my Royal Typewriter drawing, I think my shop hit a real turning point when I added that first ink drawing.

I have a friend who is expecting her first girl.
She wanted me to create a painting to coordinate with this bedding.
Isn't it sweet?

(Not sure where the bedding is from.)

So, I brainstormed, and sketched...
and suprisingly I drew this (remember I am mammally challenged).

I hope L. and her precious baby girl enjoy this for years to come!

pocket full of thanks

I have the daunting task of cleaning out my photos.  When your photography program shows you have 15,000 pictures you might have a problem (I am not exaggerating).

As I was cleaning I found these...so I must share my pocket full of thanks.

I am thankful for:

Mr.Wonderful...it was his glasses (10 years ago) that had me at hello.
Of course they have changed over the years, but you get the picture.

These old red/burnt orange sheets.  Hand-me-downs from my mother.
Silky, soft, broken-in, feel cold and wonderful when you get under the covers.

Rockin' chairs, rockin' babies...thanks Bess for the old, white rocking chair.
It has survived many nights.

The Gulf of Mexico...Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall...I'll be there.

Trying to send a message in a bottle that always comes back.

Spur of the moment trips...though having Mr.C doesn't always permit,
we at least have the memories.

Kisses, kisses.

Baby love.

Family.
