♥ I heart art ♥ Orange

Change is nice.
Rather than continuing my weekly feature of one artist
I have decided to change things up a bit.
Each week will have a *theme* and will display seven artists I happen upon.

So, I ♥ orange...
Be sure to visit each artists' shop linked below
to see more of their creative work.

a little Gussy here and a little Gussy there

{custom painting made for Gussy aka Gussy Bird}

As you can see, it's inspired by Gussy.

And you know I ♥ Gussy,
so I was thrilled when a customer wanted a Gussy Bird of her own.

After deciding on the colors and working on the painting
I realized this Gussy Bird had some inspiration too!

Have you visited Gussy lately?
She has some sassy new things you're sure to love.

Mama's got a brand new bag...

Funny story:
Mama goes grocery shopping & chooses not to lug diaper bag.
Instead Mama takes a diaper and wipes to throw in the car in case a change is needed.
Or so Mama thought (they stayed on the counter by the back door).
In the middle of the supermarket Mr.C, um, you know.
Mama goes to car to get diaper and wipes (that aren't there).
None of this would have happened if Mama had this:

I ♥ it & we don't leave the house without it.

Be sure to check out

where Candice makes these awesome
diaper clutches equipped to hold a travel wipe case,
2-3 diapers, and a tube of diaper cream.

That's not all though; she has some other wonderful
things for mommies and babies.

Also be sure to visit her blog
She is giving away one of these.
Go now - the giveaway ends tomorrow!

For the next few days
I will be at the

with my mom and sister
to rest and relax.

Mr.Wonderful and Mr.C
will be left alone...

But I am sure they'll have a
of a time (smiles).

Have a great rest-of-the-week!

Count Down {shop talk}

Well, baby talk and shop talk.

Six more weeks until BabyJ is due to arrive, and mama is not sure if she is ready.
I know, I know - you can never be ready, and yesterday confirmed that fact with a trip to the doctor followed by a trip to Labor & Delivery!
Not to worry, we are okay. This pregnancy has just been a little harder and put more strain on me than I experienced with Mr.C so I need take it slow.

In the shop I have been taking things slow for sure, doing what I can when I can. I have absolutely, positively finished my custom orders giving me a chance to add this to the shop:

I also have some other paintings for boys coming soon -
dōmo arigatō misutā Robotto :]

Stay tuned...

♥ I heart art ♥ Abby Wagner - Sugarbowl Art Co.

"What a splendid thing watercolor is
to express atmosphere and distance,
so that the figure
is surrounded by air and can breathe in it."
- Vincent van Gogh

I am amazed by artists who create paintings with watercolor...
The only time I have ever used watercolor was as a child {you know the yellow plastic tray I am talking about}, and I don't think that counts.

Meet Abby: wife, mom, & the artist behind these amazing watercolors and
Sugarbowl Art Company...

When did you first begin creating art?
I’ve been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. I have been told that I could lie on the floor and color for hours—art has always been my number one hobby! I really started to get into art once I was in high school. I loved having an hour everyday in my school day for something I loved so much.

What is your favorite/most sentimental creation? Why?
My mom has a small painting that I made over a year ago. It is titled “Home” and was inspired by the first house my husband and I lived in. It reminds me of the beautiful ginkgo tree that was in our yard. The watercolor painting is on Yupo paper, and I just love how it turned out. Every time I see it at my Mom’s house I look at it and think about trying to re-create it!

What people/things inspire your work?
I am very inspired by my two young children. There is something about looking at the world with a child that is very magical. Everything becomes new. I also find nature in general to be and endless source of inspiration. I particularly love birds, trees and flowers. I primarily work in watercolor, and I find that the media itself is very inspiring: the way it flows and has a mind of its own!

Is there a project you've always dreamed of creating?
What would it be?
I am a very detailed oriented person. I also love collections and groupings of things. I have seen a series of watercolors in my mind that are big, but each piece is really a collection of smaller paintings. They could be sentimental and meaningful objects, or simply things I find beautiful. I hope someday these paintings will become a reality and no longer a dream!
