chirp chirp

The birds are chirping.
All of them. We have FIVE birds nests and all the little birdies have hatched.

The weekend is supposed to be full of
sunshiny bird chirping weather.
The boys are feeling so much better.
I am looking forward to a happy weekend.

I hope your weekend is a great one.

Mission *Funfetti*

This post is primarily for Amy, Alison, Joy and Lisa.
My Instagram ladies who have been keeping up with Mission *Funfetti*.

For those who bake only from *scratch*, are pastry chefs, or are avoiding sugar
please avert your eyes.

Yesterday was Mission *Funfetti*.
It was supposed Saturday, but this weekend happened.
When I went to bake the cupcakes on Monday
I realized I had to cook something else, delaying the mission. Again.
Then as I was about to open the box yesterday I realized I didn't have enough eggs.
Thankfully, my neighbor
(aka my mother-who-keeps-stock-in-eggs-and-only-makes-the-best-cupcakes-in-the-world)
had some. Thanks Mama.

*Whew* Crisis averted. Almost.
As I went to open the frosting, ready to experience the goodness that is Funfetti, I realize there were no little bits of colorful candy deliciousness. It was just plain vanilla frosting.

I had no idea there was a difference in Vanilla Funfetti Frosting
and Creamy Supreme Funfetti Vanilla Frosting.
{Big dramatic sigh.} At least Mr.Wonderful had never had these so he didn't know what he was missing.
Oh, and I ran out of sprinkles.

Despite the drama and delays the cupcakes were enjoyed.
Mr.Wonderful said they were "gooooooooooood" and left me with this:
"It was a fantastic foray into Funfetti fun."
Yes you can laugh. Yes he is an English Major.

Someone please help me if I am ever responsible for making cupcakes again.

Charlie's first fish

Amongst the epic mess and snot and mess
Mr.C melted my heart this morning.
He saw me using his Magnedoodle to write down medicine dose times.
He immediately wanted to draw.
I could have said no.
After all I was using it first.
I said okay and just pulled out a sheet of scrap paper.
A few minutes later he ran up to me making a fish face and holding this.
I asked him if it was a fish,
and he proudly said yes.
Make a mama proud.

snot and all

Our weekend went from looking like
this            to              this.

Thanks to

Fevers. Ear infection. Neb treatments. Antibiotics.
Oh my.
And the snot. Oh, the snot.
Did I mention this weekend was Easter?
And today is Mr.Wonderful's birthday.

I am going to be honest.
I was a bit disappointed in this weekend.
I had plans of a big celebration brunch after Easter Mass.
I made an banner to hang, bought flowers, & all sorts of goodies.
We were going to bake cupcakes for Robbie's birthday...
Funfetti cupcakes because he claims to have never had Funfetti!
We were going to have an Easter Egg hunt.

Things did not go as planned.

But you know what? It is okay.
Life happens, snot and all.*

*Don't be fooled by my nonchalantness. There we several meltdowns this weekend, not just by the boys (wink).

Bicycle memories:
-my first bicycle {a beloved hand-me-down from my neighbor} and had a huge banana seat and my parents painted it and made it look so pretty for me
-going with Mr.Wonderful on long bike rides down 30-A and in St. Augustine, just before I found out I was pregnant with Mr.C

Raise your hand if you want to go ride a bike!

b o y s

The weather is delightful, just delightful.
Lately, our mornings are filled with dirt or sand, rocks, and puppy dogs.
Puppy dogs as in Mr.C pretends he is a dog and barks and pants and licks, yes licks.
"Charlie we don't lick people.
Doggies lick people."
Puppy dogs as in Jack begs for my food.
"Sorry baby, you can't eat my chocolate bar organic granola bar."

[being dirty and enjoying the shade tree
and the 29 rocks Mr.C collected]

What have you been up to lately?

yes and yes

Friends are people who tell you when you have something on your lip (a little to the left).
-awesome napkins Amy gave us

If you haven't read her post, well you should, and Amy's too
(just don't look at the bad pictures).
It tells you everything about MEET UP 2011 and
has the inside scoop with the other ladies.

Yes, the pictures we took at the meet up were bad. Go figure.
Three photographers + one person who knows how to use a camera
+ no one to take pictures = no good.
Yes, I got lost, just a little.
Yes, Danielle's hair is as long as Crystal Gayle's.
Yes, I met my online friends, and hope to meet more of you in the future.

What I have to say:
Amy - quieter than I thought, probably because I was talking SO much. Cute as a button, and I love buttons. Fun as fun can be. Don't you want to come live in GA?
Emily - EXACTLY how I imagined. Funny, saucy (in a good way, can I say that?),
big heart, I felt like I knew her even though we have only emailed 11 times.
Danielle - longer hair than I imagined (stop talking about the hair already), one of my closest friends (which I already knew, hence the trip), I love you friend.

How was it? It was awesome.
I talked too much. I laughed a lot. I felt like I was meeting up with friends.
I was meeting up with friends.
I was myself.
I am glad I got to "meet" my friends.
Yes and yes.

*happy place*

I participated in

and last week I got my swap!

It is perfect {isn't it?}.
I told my partner, Heather at Cookie Mondays
I needed something for my creative space.
And I gave her free reign and these colors:

I love what she created, & I definitely found my *happy place*.
I can't wait to hang it with some other handmade goodies I have received lately.

I made this fun hoop art for Heather.

{ hoop art + painted fabric + embroidery thread + felt = happy }

face time

The past four days included some wonderful face time
with my family
and with some friends.

We spent $40 on ears and $237 on unhealthy food.
Mr.C got to meet Woody. He even found his hat!

I met  DanielleAmy, and Emily {in real life}.
We spent $10.55 on not so good food and not so good service,
but we laughed and hugged and hung out and took unflattering pictures
like friends who see each other all the time.

It was a wonderful weekend.
Now, it's time to unpack and recuperate from vacation.

Happy Monday!

{did you win?}

Is your birthday the day before taxes are due?
One, TWO, buckle my shoe.
4 x 4 = 16

Okay, that's enough.

Little Miss Holls - Holly - #2
Happy early birthday; I will email you.

And with that fantastic news I am signing OFF.
I have copied and pasted and linked and published more blog posts
(for Handmade with Purpose) than I ever imagined.
It's a good thing because we have at least 30 shops participating!
However, I am tired.
I want to love on these people and enjoy them.

Have a great remainder of the week.
Have a fantastic weekend.
I will see some of you on Monday and some of you before then.

Why autism? Why Brett?

For the month of April I am choosing to give towards Autism Therapy for my {Handmade with Purpose} contributions.

Here is the breakdown:
-proceeds from every sale of children's artwork
from my shop during April
(including a custom order I have set up)
-proceeds from a few special paintings I am making in honor of Brett (that have been started but not completed)
will go towards a local program,
and
towards a Language for Learning program for Brett's Resource Room

Does that make sense?
If not, just know I am giving what I can to people (smiles, nods, and winks).

Why Autism? Why Brett?
I could give statistics.
I could tell stories.
I will share these instead:

-Brett is my friend's son. He has Autism. Get to know Brett here & here.
-My husband used to do Autism Therapy with students, and it had an impact on me.
AND, last but not least
-If you are giving to others but not giving to your family, well, it's in vain.

- Theodore Roosevelt

I hope you will help me support Brett
and so many others

we are going without shoes today.

up, up & away

Holy hot air balloons is it busy around these parts.
{no there is no such thing as a holy or holey hot air balloon...
that wouldn't float}

BUT there is such a thing as the best of both worlds {^see above}
Is it a painting? Is it a print?
WELL, it's kind of both... It is a hand painted canvas panel.
You get the hand painted-ness on a thin panel you can frame.
I love it, especially in a bright, fun frame.
You can find it in the shop along with some other new paintings and cards.

Also, this painting/print/whatever-you-want-to-call-it
is one of my Handmade With Purpose items.

I have yet to do my post sharing about the charities I chose...
it's coming though.
I have just been, ummmm, busy.

Now, I have to go, Mr.C is up from his nap,
Jack has army-crawled into the closet,
and I have to finish an over-due painting someone has been ever so patiently waiting for.

Oh, PS, are you blogging barefoot tomorrow? I am.
