the SHOP is TWO

Two years ago I joined Etsy. I had no idea what I was doing, but I was excited to find an online handmade market place where I could sell my paintings.

In these two years I have:
-met some wonderful handmade shop owners and bloggers and friends
-painted over 200 canvases
-pretty much ruined my kitchen table
-pretty much ruined all of my favorite t-shirts and a few nice articles of clothing
-gotten paint in my hair, on my children, on my camera, on my kitchen floor, on my laptop
-painted canvases that ranged from 24x30 inches to 4x6 inches
-learned how to say no, kind of
-challenged myself with new designs
-laughed at myself
-cried because I didn't feel I could do it
-connected with some great customers
-realized that I am a stay-at-home-mama who paints not a work-at-home-mama
-had to cut back, once, twice, three times
-told myself to get over myself
-painted about 18 mustaches, 14 owls, and a LOT of states
-only lost one package that was then found (yay, knock on wood, please USPS don't fail me)
-had a lot of fun

So this is a big THANK YOU to all who have supported me and encouraged me.
Today I will be having four "I ♥ ..." giveaways to show my appreciation; I ♥ y'all.

Cheers to TWO years and here's to many more!

waves of summer { i heart art }

A few more weeks until summer begins,
though it is definitely summer weather here in the South.
When I think of summer time the first thing that comes to mind is the ocean and the beach.
Here are some beautiful pieces of summer:

Are you ready to go to the beach yet?

dinner and a haircut

 I am totally breaking the more-than-one-blog-post-a-day rule... it's a rule, isn't it?
Actually no, I have a friend who does multiple blog posts a day sometimes and they are nice. Mine are due to forgetfulness and bad timing. Thanks to Instagram I have pictures to post.

Last night for dinner we ate Margherita pizza from California Pizza Kitchen {as in frozen pizza, but that sounded so much better}.
I picked off most of the tomatoes. I don't like raw tomatoes, and will tolerate the freshly frozen ones on pizza.

Jack likes pizza too, tomatoes and all.
He likes almost anything. Except baby food. This baby will not eat baby food.

And what's dinner without a haircut?
Yes, I buzzed Jack's hair. It was on a whim. I thought he needed a trim, and it ended up very short because I used clippers rather than scissors. Ooops.

And that is What We Ate Wednesday. I am linking up with Amy.

Oh, Look. It's my kitchen table again.

Don't be fooled, it is not the same photo from my last post.
See those four canvases, not the Africa one, but the other four?
These are for y'all. My blog readers, my customers, my friends.
Paint Me a Picture {the shop} is turning two on Friday, and I have some special little goodies to give away.
So, for all those who heart photography, coffee, tea and thread - be excited and come back!

Also
♥ little Jack-man turns 10 months today. c.r.a.z.y.
♥ dot... in the city has some shop credit love for you
♥ oh, and Bringing up Burns has some State Love
♥ Dana is sharing about her heart in Korea {my heart was overjoyed to create this for her}
Love is Rising is selling some sweet shirts with proceeds benefiting the Porter Family Adoption {please go visit their shop and blog and learn more}

Happy Wednesday.

multitasking

{the current view in my studio, 11 all at once}

Multitasking?
Yes.
Maybe a little to much?
Yes.
So it might be a little quite around here for the next few days.
The wait will be worth it.
I have some super-fun things up my sleeve. Something you won't want to miss. Pinkie promise.
See ya'll next week sometime!

mug shots

After I recently added new coffee and tea love to the shop, I had a couple people inquire about me doing a painting of their favorite cup.
Ummm, yes please.

Well, that got me thinking about my favorite cup.
Are you ready?

Robbie bought me this cup 10 years ago. I had no emotional attachment to Tigger or Winnie the Pooh. He just got it because he went to Disney and wanted to bring me something back.

Yes, it's Tigger. And I really love this cup. I drink from it almost every day.
Until today.

Enter Coral.

I bought this yesterday, and I have declared "Coral" as my new favorite coffee cup.
Isn't it pretty?
The only thing I don't like is the handle. It is like upside down.
I guess no cup can really compare to Tigger, but Coral would look much better in an "I heart coffee" painting than Tigger.

Coffee and tea lovers unite.
Do you have a favorite coffee or tea cup? Really, it makes a difference, right?

in the Navy {blue}

I have wanted to paint everything Navy blue for about three months. I don't know why, but it is such a great color.
I did a State Love of Massachusetts this week and fell in Navy blue love all over again.
So, here's to Navy blue and a good weekend.

eclectic goodness

Back in February I made this sweet little "i ♥ photography" for my friend Kim who takes our family pictures. These are her favorite colors blue + red.

So when I saw the amazing Thoughts from Behind the Lens camera strap slip covers that Ruthanne makes I knew I had to get one made for Kim for her birthday (just a tad early).

Isn't it awesome?!?
Kim squealed and hugged my neck 64 times when she opened it.
I has "K & R" stitched into the talk bubble - the name of Kim's photography business.

I also got this fun slip cover for myself...
Well, it was supposed to be a gift for someone else, but I put it on my camera strap and I decided it was perfect for me. I didn't want to take it off so it then became a gift to me {thank you Ruthanne}. I'll just have to buy whoever it was for a different one.

Have I convinced you yet to go check out eclectic whatnot and find a slip cover for your dSLR strap? She even makes slip covers with ruffles!

Go. now.

buzz buzz {shop talk and other stuff}

Busy, busy.

Y'all, it's almost the middle of May. What?
Hi, Spring, why do you look, act and feel like Summer? We are basking in the sweat sunshine. Yesterday we got out the water hose and the bubble bath and a BIG bucket. The boys and the gnats thought it was fantastic. I am pretty sure we were quite a sight. I did not take my camera. Someone likes to splash. So you can use your imagination - bubbles, bugs, boys.

Let's talk about the shop.
There are some new mustaches in. I really like the colors. Navy blue, dark gray, coral pink. Who wouldn't want a coral pink mustache?
Also, I am pretty bare bones. Not me, the shop (wink). The reasons: states, time, and I waiting on a shipment of canvases.
That ^ said I do have lots of neat ideas brewing so please keep visiting to see what's new.
And if you are interested in a State Love painting please let me know so I can reserve a listing for you.

Lastly, did anyone try a spinach-strawberry-banana smoothie? We have been making more and trying different recipes. I think it would be fun to do some healthy and yummy recipes each week. What do you think?

I hope you have a sweet{as honey} Wednesday.

PS. Have you met Ruthanne?

my gifts

Here are my Mother's Day gifts.
No, not the kids. I mean, yes they are a my most precious gifts as a mother.
What I am talking about is the pictures.
Yesterday I told Mr.Wonderful from now on I would like a nice picture taken of me and my children as my Mother's Day gift.
Nice being Mama is not covered in dirt, snot, or paint and has showered and applied make-up.
Of course I also understand that not everyone will be looking at the camera and smiling at the same time, but we can at least try.

For all the mamas and mamas-to-be I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day.

nice and smooth

This week has been one of the smoothest and most productive in 9 months.
Jack learned naps are his friend... let's hope this continues and even branches into night time sleep (I can dream).

This was also the week of the smoothie.
I decided since force feeding Charlie green things wasn't going so smoothly
(hahaha, that just fit right in didn't it?)
I was going to sneak them in his meals.
Enter the smoothie.
Yesterday we tried a spinach, strawberry and banana concoction.
It was the best smoothie ever.
You should try it.
1 cup of French vanilla yogurt
1 cup of spinach
1 frozen banana (I cut it into pieces before I freeze it)
4-5 strawberries
Put it in your Ninja and make a smoothie.

Enjoy and have a wonderful Friday.
